The Belleville New Tech sophomores are currently participating in the Hamilton Project in their Money, Power, and the American Dream class. The sophomores will be reading the script of the musical Hamilton, written by Lin Manuel Miranda, which uses multiple genres of popular music to portray historical events from our country's founding era. By learning the through the musical, students will understand how our government works as well as be able to use language in persuasive and creative ways, making it a fun and engaging way of learning.

Students will demonstrate their learning by writing to Congress members about current issues they would like changed through legislation, and they will also step into Miranda's shoes in order to use the power of performance to persuade others. Many students leave this class saying this was the best project they did their sophomore year.

Last year, the New Tech sophomores went to see Hamilton at the Fisher Theatre. It was an unforgettable experience for all who attended.
