THIRD GRADE READING LAW

The Michigan Legislature passed the "Third-Grade Retention Law" (PA 306) in 2016 to ensure that students exiting 3rd grade are reading at or above grade level beginning in the 2019-2020 school year. Below is additional information and resources about the legislation and how you can support your child at home.  Although the legislation remains in effect, the third grade retention requirement no longer exists. If you have questions on the plan and how to implement it at home, please see your students' building principal or contact the Curriculum Office at 734-697-9123
