Field Trip & District-Sponsored Trip Guidelines

To request approval for a field trip or district-sponsored trip, the following forms must be completed.

Required Forms

Request for Field Trip Approval

Request for Overnight or Out-of-State Trips

  • Board Approval Field Trip Request (must be printed) and the Field Trip Request form must be submitted.

  • The Board Approval Field Trip form must be approved at a regular Board Meeting.

  • Approval for overnight or out-of-state trips must be requested several months before the trip date.

Transportation Approval

At least 30 days prior to the trip:

  • Submit the Field Trip Request form to the Transportation Department.

  • Transportation will:

    • Review the request

    • Calculate the cost

    • Confirm availability

    • Return the approved or denied form to the requester

  • Once Transportation approves, the form will be routed to the Director of Instruction for final approval.

Please review Board Policies 3105 and 5506 regarding field trips and volunteer drivers.

Additional Considerations

When planning a trip, reflect on the following:

  • How will the trip enhance the curriculum?

  • How will you fund the trip in a way that minimizes financial barriers for students?

  • How will students who are unable to attend still meet the curriculum outcomes?
